Drumming with Alex

Oriental dancers should be familiar with the rhythms used in the music they dance to in their performances. If the words "saidi," "beledi," or "ayub" don't sound familiar, I recommend finding a good Middle Eastern drumming teacher. Even if you never plan to drum in public, it really helps with musical interpretation.

Alex is a drummer from Omaha, NE and is a good teacher. Alex provides handouts to students, helps with any questions, and starts at a slow tempo. Alex also sells CDs with the rhythms covered for at-home practice companions. Alex is teaching workshops at the 2009 Tribal Dreams in Lincoln, NE on November 13th and 14th. Register by October 31st for a discount.
